Delete Your Data
Effective Date: October 5, 2026
Last updated: October 4, 2026
This page explains how to delete your ReCut - AI Video Editor ("ReCut") account and the personal information Novaire Capital Corporation, a company based in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us", "our"), holds about you. It forms part of our Privacy Policy (section 16) and our Terms of Service (Section 16). You can delete your data at any time, and you don't need to give a reason.
In short: There are two ways. In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete account and type DELETE: your account and everything it holds on our servers are deleted as soon as you confirm, and its projects are removed from your iPhone. By email, write to support@userecut.com at any time, even if you no longer have the app, and we delete everything we hold about you. Either way, deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription: cancel it in the App Store.
1. Delete Your Account in the App
- Open ReCut and go to Profile → Settings → Delete account. If you haven't subscribed, you can also reach Delete account from the account menu, which opens when you close the subscription screen.
- Read what will be deleted, and the note about your subscription (section 4).
- Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete account.
As soon as you confirm, our servers delete your account and its data (section 3). ReCut then removes that account's projects from this iPhone and signs you out. If our servers can't confirm the deletion, for example because the connection drops, the app tells you, removes nothing from the iPhone, and you can try again. If removing the projects is interrupted, ReCut finishes it the next time it opens.
Deleting an account can't be undone. You can create a new account later with the same Apple or Google sign-in, but nothing from the old account carries over.
2. Ask Us to Delete Everything, by Email
You can always ask us to delete your data by email, no matter when you last used ReCut. You don't need the app installed, ReCut has no passwords to remember (sign-in is through Apple or Google), and you don't need a reason. This applies whether your subscription is active, lapsed or was never started.
How: email support@userecut.com with the subject "Delete my ReCut data", from the email address on your ReCut account. Tell us whether you signed in with Apple or Google. If you used Apple's Hide My Email, include the relay address, which your Apple Account settings show. If you're not sure which email or sign-in you used, tell us what you remember and we will work it out with you.
We then delete your account and everything we hold about you on our servers, as section 3 lists; section 5 says what may remain. Your projects are on your iPhone, not with us: deleting the app removes them. If you want only part of your data deleted instead, for example only your feedback, say so and we will delete just that.
- Verification. We match your request to the account, and we may ask one follow-up question if that isn't enough. We never ask for payment details or sign-in codes.
- Authorized agents. Someone can ask for you with your signed, written permission. We may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.
- Parents and guardians can ask us to delete their child's account at the same address.
- Cost. There is no charge.
- Timing. We act within the time the law that applies to you sets (section 5).
- Confirmation. We tell you by email when the deletion is done, or which part we can't carry out and why.
3. What Deletion Removes
Deleting your account removes, on our servers:
- your account: your Apple or Google sign-in, your email address and, with Google, the name and profile picture link Google shares;
- your profile: AI consent answers and their history, the version of the Terms you accepted, tutorial progress, notification settings, any strikes or hold on your account, and any age range an earlier version recorded;
- your subscription records in ReCut's database (the App Store subscription itself is Apple's; see below);
- your job and batch records and usage ledger;
- any audio still waiting to be transcribed, and any transcript or cut plan not yet delivered;
- your cut feedback;
- your push tokens;
- the rate-limit counters kept under your user ID;
- any creator-code access granted to your account;
- your Sign in with Apple authorization, which is revoked with Apple;
- your customer record at RevenueCat;
- and, when you delete in the app, the projects and settings for your account on the iPhone you delete from.
Two details:
- Any AI edit that hasn't finished is canceled, and its audio is deleted.
- If Apple can't be reached to revoke your Sign in with Apple authorization, your deletion still goes ahead.
Projects live only on this iPhone. Deleting ReCut deletes them. ReCut keeps no copy of your projects or videos on its servers, so it can't restore them.
4. What Deletion Does Not Do
- It doesn't cancel your subscription. Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel it in the App Store. To cancel, open Profile → Manage subscription in ReCut before you delete your account, or go to iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ReCut at any time, even after deleting your account. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next renewal. A subscription left running goes on renewing, and those charges are valid. Apple decides refunds for App Store purchases. ReCut can't issue refunds and doesn't promise one. To request one, use Apple's Report a Problem page (reportaproblem.apple.com). Our Refund Policy explains more.
- It doesn't remove the videos you exported. They are in your Photos library, under your control. Delete them in Photos, and anywhere you posted them, if you want them gone.
- It doesn't reach other iPhones. It removes the projects on the iPhone you delete from. If you used ReCut on another iPhone, delete the app there to remove the projects stored on it.
- It doesn't remove your iPhone's own backups. iCloud or computer backups you made of your iPhone can include ReCut's project files (not your videos) under Apple's control and your own settings.
- Deleting the app is not deleting your account. It removes your projects from the iPhone, but your account and your subscription stay in place. To delete your account too, use section 1 before you delete the app, or email us (section 2).
- Signing out is not deleting your account. It hides that account's projects on this iPhone; they come back when you sign in again with the same account on the same iPhone. Everything on our servers stays until you delete the account.
5. Timelines, and What May Remain
Our servers keep AI data only briefly, whether or not you delete your account:
- The audio is deleted right after transcription and is never kept longer than 48 hours.
- Transcripts and cut plans are deleted when your iPhone receives them, or within 7 days if it never does.
- Anthropic may keep the transcript text it receives for up to 30 days, and does not use it to train its models.
Deleting your account deletes whatever is still on our servers straight away. Deleted data can remain in database backups for up to 7 days before it is gone. If we ever restore a backup, we first re-apply every deletion made since that backup, so a deleted account doesn't come back.
| What | When |
|---|---|
| In-app deletion | As soon as you confirm. If our servers can't confirm it, the app tells you and you can try again |
| Projects on this iPhone | Removed after you confirm, right after the server deletion |
| Audio on our servers | Deleted right after transcription, and never kept longer than 48 hours |
| Transcripts and cut plans on our servers | Deleted on delivery, or within 7 days |
| Transcript text sent through OpenRouter to Anthropic | Up to 30 days at Anthropic; at OpenRouter, under its own retention policy |
| Database backups | Up to 7 days |
| Requests by email | Within the time the law that applies to you sets: for example, 30 days under Canadian and Quebec law, one month under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and 45 days under California law |
| Deletion receipt | Kept 24 months, with no email, name or content |
What may remain:
- A deletion receipt. It holds no email, name or content: only the outcome of each deletion step and a one-way code derived from your user ID, used only to re-apply your deletion if a backup is restored. We keep it 24 months so that we can show your account was deleted.
- Records without personal data, such as our daily totals of processing costs and the number of times a creator code was used, and records that lose their link to your account when it is deleted: operational alerts, kept 90 days, and the processing cost of each edit, kept 13 months.
- What our processors keep under their own policies. Events already sent to PostHog (product analytics), Superwall (the subscription screen), Sentry (crash reports) and, for people who allowed tracking, the advertising networks Meta, TikTok and Appstack stay with them under their own retention periods. Turning off Profile → Settings → Share analytics before you delete your account stops any further product analytics events.
- What Apple and Google hold. Apple keeps your App Store purchase history, and Apple and Google keep your Apple Account and Google Account, under their own policies.
- Emails you sent us, including your deletion request, kept only as long as we need to handle them and to show that we did.
- The minimum the law requires, or that we need to resolve a dispute or enforce our Terms, and no more.
6. Smaller Steps That Keep Your Account
You don't have to delete your account to remove some of your data or to stop sharing it:
- A project: delete it from your projects in ReCut; it is removed from this iPhone at once. A project can't be deleted while it is processing.
- An AI edit in progress: cancel it on the processing screen. Canceling deletes its audio from our servers.
- Caches: Profile → Settings → Storage → Clear caches removes the files ReCut can rebuild, such as thumbnails, waveforms and the audio it extracted for AI edits, without touching your videos and edits.
- AI processing: Profile → Settings → AI processing → Turn off. Turning AI processing off stops new AI edits and cancels AI edits that haven't finished; their audio and transcripts are then deleted. It doesn't recall data already processed, which is deleted on the schedule above. Manual editing keeps working.
- Product analytics: Profile → Settings → Share analytics.
- Tracking: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Notifications: Profile → Settings → Notifications has separate switches for "Cut ready" and "Cut failed", and iOS Settings → Notifications → ReCut turns all of them off.
- Your cut feedback, and any transcript you included with it: email us (section 2).
If you no longer have the app, email us to withdraw a choice.
7. If You Never Created an Account
If you opened ReCut but never signed in, nothing you typed reached our servers: your answers to the setup questions are kept on your iPhone, and deleting the app removes them. Those answers, and events about how you used the first screens, were sent to PostHog under a random identifier that isn't linked to your name, email or any account, so we usually can't tell which events were yours; they stay with PostHog under its retention policy. RevenueCat, Superwall and Sentry also start when the app opens, under random identifiers of their own, and receive the device details and events our Privacy Policy describes. Deleting the app stops anything more being sent.
8. Children
ReCut is not directed to children under 13. ReCut doesn't ask anyone's age. A parent or guardian who believes a child under 13 used ReCut can write to support@userecut.com, and we will delete anything we, or our processors, still hold that we can match to the child.
